Rushville Consolidated High School
Last night the ladies of Connersville Spartans Swimming and Diving claimed their first victory over the Rushville Lions. The 124-37 victory produced some competitive races and a great starting point for the ladies of this team. The meet began with diving, seniors Sydney Huber and Morgan Charles and underclass Abbey Thoman, took 1,2,3 respectively in the event. Swimming began and CHS stayed dominant the entire meet, coming in first place in every event.
Some highlights include: 3 out of 4 swimmers false started in the 200 individual medley, but CHS still was able to hold on to the 1,2,3 victory of the event. Senior Morgan Hamilton swam the 50 free style, and came in 4th place by less than a second. This was Hamilton’s first individual race ever. Freshman Catie Cooley and senior Hettie Dalrymple took first and second respectively in the 500 free. Cooley and Dalrymple swam again right after their individual event in the 200 freestyle relay. Dalrymple anchored the relay team and began her swim two body lengths behind the second place relay. She caught up to the swimmer and just out touched Rushville to give CHS a 1,2 finish. The CHS 400 freestyle relay team of Morgan Geise, Catie Cooley, Carley Templton, and Riece Drew were given a goal time of 4:30 for the relay, allowing each of them a 1:07 split. The team succeed in the challenge finishing the race in first with a time of 4:23.64.
The coaches are very impressed by the work shown by these ladies both in and out of the pool. We look forward to working harder and being even more competitive when the boys join the ladies in our next meet on December 2nd at home against Rushville and Batesville.
