The boyâs and girlâs cross country teams both had a strong start to the season at the Richmond Invitational on Saturday, with the girls placing 7th and the boys placing 6th. Tylissa Beckner was the first Spartan across the line, leading the way with her 21st place finish. Caroline Arndt and Alexa McDonald were close behind, finishing 25th and 39th respectively. Sicily Bowling and Sarah Kalkhoff both ran gutsy races to round out the scoring for the Spartans.
In the boyâs race, Wes Smith continued where he left off last season as the front runner for the Spartans, finishing in 16th place. Adam Arndt was next, placing 28th. A tight Spartan pack consisting of Kyle Downard (46th), James Smith (54th), Dylan Combs (56), LaTerrian Harrison (57th), and Peyton Caldwell (58th) closed out the top seven. Strong races were also turned in by Trevor Hux, AJ Napier, and Jacob Sanders.
Both teams are in action this Saturday at the Rushville Invitational starting at 9:00 AM.
