Spartans News · J.V. Football Playing Well

For the second week in a row the Spartan J.V. Football team found itself in a close contest midway through the 4th quarter.  In week 1 the Spartans were able to pull out a close victory over the Richmond Red-Devils 22-20.  This past Tuesday the Spartans found themselves on the other end of the score falling to visiting Franklin County 28-20.  In both contest quarterback Gavin Pearson led the offensive unit efficiently and effectively.  On Tuesday Pearson completed several passes to receivers Brayden Pearson, Carter DeBoard, Cyle Siefert, Brayden Lykins, Lucas Barron, and Chance Bentley.  Bentley pulled in one of those passes for a touchdown on Tuesday and he also ran one in from 13 yards out.  Wide receiver Hayden Turney turned in a fantastic game blocking on the edge.  He played selfless football and continues to show great effort.  Cyle Siefert added points to the board in the second half with a fantastic run around the edge of the Franklin County defense.  The offensive line consisting of a combination of Austin Lancaster, Logan Gabbard, Cody Hauger, Charles Robinson, Claven Reece, Dylan Lawson, Luke Swininger, Kaden Lutz, Dakota Riebsomer, and Lanedon Frye did a fine job opening holes and protecting the q.b. in the passing game.  Defensively solid performances were turned in by middle linebackers Gavin Frank and Chance Bentley along with defensive lineman Cameron Redd, Austin Lancaster, and Lanedon Frye and Gavin Jones .  The Sparan J.V. squad will next be in action Monday, September 9th @ Greensburg with a 6:00 p.m. kick-off.
