The Connersville Middle School track and field team visited Greenfield Central Junior High School Monday night for a challenging meet. There was a strong headwind straight down the main straight away. Despite running into the wind, there were several personal records set. The girls’ team lost 36-63 and the boys’ team was defeated by only 4 points, 48-52.
First place finishers for the girls were Ahniyah Bennett in the long jump, 100, and 200, Adora Free in the 1600, and Kennedy O’Toole in the hurdles. Personal records were set by Kyndal Frank in the 200, Gwynn Higbie in the 400 and 200, Grace Kibbey in the hurdles, and Alexandra Sweet in the 800.
First place finishers for the boys were Micah Buchanan in the long jump, 100, and 200, Gabe Mitchem in the shot put, Jacob Richardson in the hurdles with a PR, and the 400m relay team of Peterson, Granger, J. Garrett, and Buchanan. Personal records were set by Tyler Garrett in the shot put, Noah McCullum in the 800, JR Pfeiffer in the 100 and 200, and Ayden Wenta in the shot put and discus.
The next meets for the team is April 28th at New Castle followed by May 4th at Richmond.
