The boys golf team shot their lowest score of the season but it was not enough to overcome sectional rival, Richmond, losing 173-196 at the Elks Country Club. The Spartans, who played without Senior Brayden Shafer due to an injury, managed to break the 200 mark. Coach Martin stated the goal is to lower our score each time we play, which we are accomplishing. “We played this same course this pasted Saturday and our boys did a much better job of handling it tonight.” Bright spots on the night was Sophomore Jonah Graham and Senior Hutton Getz. Graham faced Richmond ace and Ohio State golf recruit, Jake Miller, and stayed toe to toe with the Senior throughout the night. Both Graham and Miller each shot a one-over par 37 when final scores where tallied. Getz turned in his best round of the early season scoring a 45 and defeating Richmond’s number two golfer by 3 strokes. “I was extremely proud of Jonah and Hutton tonight.” Coach Martin said. “They each really came out to play tonight and this is something they both can do every match!” Rounding out the Spartan scoring was Freshman duo Grady Getz with a 56 and Dylan Thomas with a 57. Others scores for the Spartans were Alex Austerman with a 58, Braden Moore a 59, Ethan Steele a 60 and Nathan Shawl a 62.
