The Varsity golf team lost to a talented Union County golf team by a score of 199-180 at Willowbrook Country Club Tuesday evening. It was Senior night for the Spartans. Playing in their last match at Willowbrook Country Club, Hutton Getz, Alex Austerman and their parents were introduced by Connersville Athletic Director Brent Duncan at the beginning of the match. “I’ve truly enjoyed coaching Hutton and Alex over the years beginning back in their middle school days. I’ve always been so impressed with their determination to improve their game. It’s been an honor coaching them.” Coach Martin stated. During the match, the Spartans struggled to get in a consistent rhythm throughout the evening. The struggled with their irons but most recovered on the greens. Though well above his average, Sophomore Jonah Graham led the Spartans with 47. Freshman Dylan Thomas finished this round with a career best 48. “I was extremely proud of Dylan tonight! He turned in the lowest score for the Freshman this season and he has a lot of potential in the future.” Coach Martin said. Other scoring for the Spartans were Hutton with a 51, Alex finished with a 53, Grady Getz with a season low 56 and Nathan Shawl came in with a 62.
