Connersville Varsity Spartans stayed in it until the end, but Lawrenceburg High School pulled away late in an 11-7 victory on Friday.

Despite the loss, Connersville Varsity Spartans did collect 11 hits in the high-scoring affair.

Connersville Varsity Spartans opened up scoring in the first inning when Gavin Lynch grounded out, scoring one run.

After Lawrenceburg High School scored two runs in the top of the second, Connersville Varsity Spartans answered with two of their own. Lawrenceburg High School scored when York doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs. Connersville Varsity Spartans then answered when Gavin Pearson grounded out, scoring one run and Chance Bentley grounded out, scoring one run.

Brayden Lykins was on the hill for Connersville Varsity Spartans. The hurler went five innings, allowing five runs on nine hits and striking out seven. Pearson and Cody Friend entered the game as relief, throwing one and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively with Pearson taking the loss.

Connersville Varsity Spartans racked up 11 hits in the game. Bentley, Friend, Quentin Leisure, and Braxton Myers each collected multiple hits for Connersville Varsity Spartans.

CHS is now 10-5, 3-5 in the conference. Connersville hosts Rushville tonight at 6:00.
